standing crescent moon
Created by: yf
Description
Crescent Moon Pose is a standing side bend that engages the lateral core muscles and legs for stability while deeply stretching the side body. The obliques and intercostal muscles along the ribs are elongated on the up-reach side, as the pose creates space from the hip through the arm, and the opposite side core muscles contract to support the bend. A standing posture characterized by an extended side bend, creating a crescent shape with the body. It is commonly included in standing sequences as a warm-up or transition to increase lateral flexibility and prepare for deeper side stretches. This pose is practiced bilaterally, with left and right side variations, and is often sequenced after mountain pose or warrior variations to maintain flow and balance.
