Description

Pendant Pose (Lolasana, pendulum) is an arm balance that requires significant upper body and core strength. The hands bear the body’s weight, engaging the shoulders, chest, and triceps to lift the torso and crossed legs off the floor. At the same time, the deep abdominal muscles and hip flexors contract powerfully to tuck the knees toward the chest, and the back and pelvic floor muscles assist in stabilizing the lift. The result is a suspended posture that builds strength in the wrists, arms, and core while compactly engaging the tucked lower body. A seated forward bend where the torso hangs down like a pendulum over the legs, creating a rounded shape from the hips. Typically used in cool-down or counterpose sequences to release tension after backbends or standing poses. Classified as a forward bend in the seated pose category, it often follows poses such as seated twists or gentle backbends. Known as lolasana in Sanskrit, it emphasizes relaxation and lengthening of the spine.
