Description
Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana) intensely stretches the entire posterior chain from the heels through the hamstrings up to the spine. The pose lengthens the back muscles and hamstrings as the torso folds over the legs, with the core engaging subtly to support the forward bend. A seated posture where the torso folds forward over extended legs, creating a long, stretched position along the back body. Typically used in cool-down or closing sequences to promote flexibility and relaxation after standing or backbending poses. Classified within forward bends and seated stretches, it commonly follows seated preparatory poses and precedes gentle backbends or restorative postures. Known in Sanskrit as paschimottanasana.
