Description

Seated Wide-Legged Forward Fold (Upavistha Konasana) stretches the hamstrings and inner thighs of both legs as the torso leans forward between them. The pose also lengthens the lower back, and the quadriceps remain active to keep the knees extended, while the core engages to support the deep forward bend. A seated forward bend with the legs extended wide apart and the torso folding toward the floor. Typically included in seated sequences or as a preparatory stretch for hip openers and forward bends. Classified within seated forward bends, it often follows poses like staff pose and precedes deeper hip stretches. Known as upavista konasana in Sanskrit, highlighting the angled position of the legs.
