Description
Warrior II Pose is an open hip standing posture with arms extended horizontally. In Warrior II, the legs assume a wide stance to build strength in the thighs and glutes, and the extended arms encourage an open chest and strong upper back. This pose stretches the inner thighs and groin of the bent front leg while strengthening the quadriceps and ankles. The torso remains upright and tall, cultivating endurance and an expanded range of motion in the hips and shoulders as you gaze over the front hand. A standing pose characterized by a wide stance with arms extended parallel to the ground, one leg bent at the knee and the other straight. It is commonly included in standing sequences to build strength and stability, often following foundational poses like mountain or triangle pose. Part of the warrior family, it has left and right side variations and is known as Vīrabhadrāsana 2 in Sanskrit.
