warrior 3
Created by: yf
Description
Warrior III is a balancing pose that forms a T-shape with the body: the standing leg rooted firmly and the opposite leg and torso extending parallel to the ground. This pose powerfully strengthens the standing leg’s thigh, glute, and ankle while engaging the core and back muscles to maintain a level torso. At the same time, it gently stretches the hamstrings of the lifted leg as it reaches back, and requires focus and balance to keep the body aligned. A balancing pose where the body forms a straight line from the extended back leg through the torso to the arms reaching forward. Commonly included in standing sequences to develop strength and stability, it often follows lunges or warrior II and precedes standing balances or hip openers. Part of the warrior family, it is practiced on both sides to maintain balance and symmetry.
