Description
Lightning Bolt Pose (sometimes called Awkward Chair or Fierce Pose in some traditions) is a variation of Chair Pose with the feet together, knees touching, and arms often alongside the body or in a narrow position. In this pose, the inner thighs and knees squeeze together, adding an element of adductor engagement. Like standard Chair Pose, it strengthens the thighs and glutes, but the feet-together stance increases the challenge to balance and works the ankles more intensely. This variation also places the torso more upright over the hips, which can emphasize core engagement. Lightning Bolt Pose is known to fire up the legs and core, making it a potent strengthening posture. Chair, palms and knees together. A seated twist with one leg crossed over the other and the opposite arm pressing against the raised knee to deepen the rotation. Commonly used in seated sequences for spinal mobility and as a counterpose to forward bends. Classified within seated twist poses, it typically follows preparatory hip openers and precedes gentle backbends. Known as awkward chair or lightning in English, it does not have distinct left or right variations.
