Description

This is a modification of Plank Pose performed with the knees resting on the mat, which reduces the weight load on the arms and core. Knees-Down Plank allows beginners to build strength in the chest, shoulders, and abdominals with less strain. It specifically targets the same muscle groups as a full Plank – engaging the shoulders and triceps while activating the core – but the support of the knees makes it more accessible. This variation can be used to refine alignment or as a preparatory step toward the full Plank Pose. Knees down plank pose A prone position with the body supported on the forearms and knees, maintaining a straight line from head to knees. Commonly used as a preparatory or modification in core-strengthening sequences and warm-ups to reduce intensity compared to full plank. Classified within the plank family, it serves as an accessible alternative for building stability before progressing to standard plank variations.
