Description

Reclined Pigeon Pose (Seated Figure-Four Stretch) gently stretches the piriformis and gluteal muscles of the crossed leg. Lying on the back or on your seat with one ankle over the opposite knee, this pose uses gravity to open the outer hip and relieve tension in the buttocks and lower back, while the upper body remains relaxed. A reclined hip opener where one ankle is crossed over the opposite thigh, forming a figure four shape while lying on the back. Commonly used in cool-down sequences or as a preparatory stretch for deeper hip openers. It is part of the hip stretch family and typically practiced on both sides to maintain balance. Known as sucirandhrasana in Sanskrit, it is often called eye of the needle or figure four in English.
